Privacy policy

What we know.

What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to wipe it.

The short version

  • We collect what the site needs to run. That’s it.
  • Your email is never shown to anyone. Not even other apes.
  • No ads, no tracking cookies, no selling your data.
  • Makers see the work you do for them. Everyone sees your profile.
  • Leave the tree and your personal info is wiped.

Apes Together Strong (“we”) runs apestogetherstrong.si and is responsible for your data here. This page goes with the terms.

What we collect

  • Your account. Email, handle, display name and password. The password is hashed by our sign-in provider: nobody here can read it. Sign in with Google or GitHub and we get your email and name from them, plus your GitHub username.
  • Your profile. Bio and the devices you test on, if you add them.
  • What you do here. Apps and tasks you post, tasks you claim, your answers, ratings, quotes, contests and check-ins, your banana ledger and streaks, and who invited you.
  • Troop Duty. The Google account email you opt in with and your screenshot link.
  • Where you came from. On your first visit we note the site that sent you, any utm tags and the page you landed on. It’s saved to your account when you sign up.
  • Visits. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies: the page, the site that sent you, your country, device and browser. It isn’t tied to your account.
  • The technical bits. Your IP address and browser pass through our hosting and sign-in providers’ logs, and the bot check reads browser signals to tell apes from bots.
  • Email. What we send you and what you send us.
  • Feedback. What you write on the feedback page, the page you came from, and your handle if you’re signed in. Only the people who run the site read it.

Why

  • To run your account and the banana economy.
  • To show your work to the makers you did it for, and your profile to everyone.
  • To email you. Account emails (confirm, reset your password) always. Activity emails (review waiting, approved, reminders) until you switch them off in settings.
  • To keep out bots, alts and cheats.
  • To see which links bring new apes in.

In GDPR terms: running the service you signed up for (contract), keeping it safe and growing it (legitimate interests), and the law when it makes us.

Who sees what

  • Everyone: your handle, display name, bio, devices, level and stats, the apps and tasks you post, quotes you made public, the live feed of who joined, claimed and got paid, and makers’ fairness scores.
  • Makers of tasks you do: your answers. For Troop Duty, also your opt-in email and screenshot.
  • Apes doing your tasks: your brief, your app, and how you reviewed their work.
  • Nobody: your email and password.
  • Services that run the site for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting and visit counts), Resend (email) and Cloudflare (the bot check). Google and GitHub only if you sign in with them, Discord only if you join our server. Our database and servers are in the US.
  • The law, when a valid legal request makes us.

We don’t sell your data, rent it, or hand it to advertisers.

Cookies

Only what the site needs. No ads, no tracking pixels, and visits are counted without cookies, so no cookie banner.

  • sb-…-auth-token keeps you signed in.
  • ats_ref remembers who invited you, for 30 days.
  • ats_from remembers where you first came from, for 30 days.
  • Your browser also keeps drafts of your answers until you submit, and remembers you ticked the “I am not a superintelligence” box. Both stay on your device.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. Leave the tree (in settings) and right away we:

  • wipe your email, handle, name, bio, devices and Troop Duty emails,
  • take down your public quotes and your live-feed history,
  • burn your bananas and delete your login.

What stays, with no name on it: a stand-in (“a former ape”) so the banana ledger and other apes’ history still add up, answers the maker already paid for, and your apps and closed tasks (off the site, but not deleted). Want those gone too? Email us. Our providers’ logs and backups expire on their own.

Your call

  • Edit your profile and switch off activity emails in settings.
  • Delete your account any time: Settings, “Leave the tree”.
  • Want a copy of your data, a fix, or to object to something? Email us. We answer within 30 days.
  • In the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Kids

Apes are 16 or older. If someone younger signed up, tell us and we’ll delete the account.

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS, we never see your password, and the database is locked so only the app can read it. Nothing is bulletproof: if your data leaks, we’ll tell you.

Changes and questions

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or on the site first. The date at the top is the last change.
